I feel like I've been outside of fandom for so long, I'm not even sure how to be in fandom now. Seriously. In between the time I slowed down on writing and fandom (excepting, somewhat, my Doctor Who period) and now, I've approached my tenth year (!) on LJ, Dreamwidth is the new place to be, and I haven't written anything NOT for a charity auction, fic-exchange, or Yuletide in... well, quite some time. I haven't counted the years because if I counted I'd probably have to throw myself under a very large bus.

So! Resolution for 2012? I will write five fics this year that are NOT (heh heh) a part of a larger project. I figure giving myself a concrete number will keep my from weaseling out like I usually do. Heh heh.

And I'm going to start participating in fandom again. I think. And really, I feel so awkward and new, I'm a n00b again! Who SAYS YOU CAN'T GET BACK YOUR VIRGINITY?!

I promise I'm back! I promise I'll write! I promise... um... that I'll be more alive than I was in 2011.

Which will not be hard at all. XD

OMG I can't believe you wrote this...

...because this is the exact same conversation I have already had with two other fen over the past 10 days. The exact same conversation.

My resolution this year was to produce a fic a month. Also, I also feel like a n00b because I have no idea how/where to find ppl on DW (LJ is a graveyard) and where the fic action is taking place. SO LET US DISCOVER THESE THINGS TOGETHER!!!

I've had this convo with others too! I feel like it's kindofalmostsorta like JET. You know how on JET the average age of the participants stayed the same; only you were getting older? Or how once you left your area, within each successive year, the people you knew there got progressively smaller? Yeah. It kind of feels like that.

LJ isn't so much a graveyard as much as a secondary place. Most people I know are still crossposting, but DW seems to be where a lot of the main action has moved to. Though. Again, not really, since it seems that LJ is still hopping from what it looks like my flist. *sigh*

But I do have a DW account, under the same handle! You? I keep meaning to go to it and update my flist on it. And that being said, there's actually a way you can import all your entries from LJ! I think it includes tags, but I'm not sure.

Oh man. In that regard I am jealous--it used to take me a few hours to go through my flist. Now, I can let it sit for two weeks before I have a page of new posts to read through. So for me, your JET analogy is spot on.

I have DW accounts under both handles--one is now predominantly a book blog (for which writing regular updates is one of this year's resolutions) and the other is for ze fandom. (The regular updating of which, conveniently, is another of this year's resolutions.)

I also have a skype account, a shiny new smartphone, and a very boring and unrewarding job, so if you ever want to chat during the day, let me know;-)
