combining work and Doctor Who

Today, we had our opening ceremony for the new first years (in Japan, the new school year starts in April rather than September) and it was, as per usual, boring as heck.

How did I stay away through the fifteen million speeches?

Hee!

I rewatched 4X01 in my head and I kept replaying a certain part and considering the implications.

do they give their poor students a summer break? :x

btw nice to see you posting again ^^

Yeah, but the summer break is about one month long and a lot of them still have to come into school for club activities and stuff. I feel like they spend most of their lives (way more so than American students) at school. Though, over the last couple of years, I've discovered that they actually like doing it because they get to spend time with friends, etc. Their parents are usually at work, anyhow, so they like coming to school, doing activities (sports, economics, etc) and just talking to each other. Since school is often really strict, it's really the only time they can chatter and talk and not be minded.

Haha, noticed that, eh? I've been like DEAD this past year (the past two, really) and finding a shiny new fandom was just... AGH! I love it, love it, love it. Haven't felt this excited about something coming out each week since, since, since, well, since the seventh book popped out and the Fruits Basket chapters came out each week. XD

hehe! do they have doujinshi of Dr. Who? :3
that's one series I haven't tried yet *might give it a bite* :D

Hm... you know, I don't know. Doctor Who is not exactly a huge hit in America, either, so I'm not sure of the likelihood of it making it to Japan. I've certainly never seen it in the video rental places and I've yet to see any hint of it at Comiket, etc. There must be one or two; there are doujinshi of everything, including trains.

Ooh, do! JOIN! WATCH!

is it on TV or youtube/bittorrent?
I haven't obsessed over anything british since absolutely fabulous lol

All three actually! Probably most easily accessible on Youtube, though I dl it because I want to do screen caps.

I've rewatched that bit from 4X01 about 10 times and it never gets old... *grins*

Every night, when I get home from work, I watch that clip a few times before I make dinner and then while I'm reading fic, I keep popping it back up. Does it make you want to read Rose/Doctor fic each time you watch it? It does for me! Plus, I do it for the prickle. The prickle up my spine I get when the music kicks in.

Do they make you sit on the ground the entire time too? I hated those ceremonies, and I only had to sit through them twice. :P

[identity profile] demeter918.livejournal.com 2008-04-08 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
The students sometimes sit on the ground (it's freezing in the winter and there's no central heating, so I'm always feeling a bit bad when I get to sit in a chair) but the teachers sit in chairs. Did your school have the teachers on the ground too?

Actually, now that you mention it, I think a couple of times, I sat on the floor because it was one of those short assemblies about sports clubs, this and that. The teachers generally stood and watched the students, but I generally plopped to the ground and sat.

Okay, look...the last 8 posts on my friends page have been by you, all about Dr. Who...do I need to stage an intervention? =P

Too late! I'm already head-over-heels in love with Doctor Who and Pandora's box has been opened! ;) I can't believe how much in love I am, and the fact that I had the DVDs for season one for almost two years before I watched it!!!! I could have been a Doctor Who fan way before this but nooooooo, I had to set it aside for other things.

However, it did mean I could watch the first three series straight through without waiting fervently for each season. Makes watching this season much better. XD
