But who'd want to?
I've had the HunterXHunter manga for ages now, but I've never bothered to read the series yet, but my sister kept bugging me about it, since she absolutely fucking adores the series, even though I couldn't see why, since it seemed like an almost-carbon-copy of Yu Yu Hakusho with different elements thrown in.
Well. Foolish me.
I stayed up until 4 AM reading up to volume 8, and I can't get enough of the series. We have up to volume fourteen, but I know it's out to eighteen or nineteen in Japan. The artist is sick, from what I hear, so he's releasing chapters very, very slowly.
But back. HXH is SO freaking hilarious. I think there's supposed to be an element of angst to it, but I just keep laughing because the comedy breaks out in the weirdest places. The story is centered around four people again (just like YYH) and strangely enough, we have characteristics from YYH in each person. Gon, is a bit like Yuusuke (only a bit though). Leorio is like the Kuwabara of the group. Kurapika is the Kurama. And Killua is in some ways, very much like Hiei. I'm not saying they're copies of each other, since they aren't, but it's kind of interesting to note the similarities.
But... I've become totally suckered in, nonetheless, and I've fallen for the Leorio/Kurapika pairing. It's too cute not to. ^________^
For info on the series, Electric Presence which is a HXH site with all the necessary info to make you into a HXH fan. And Toriyama's World has up to volume fifteen, if any of you are interested.
Manga. Sucked me in. Saavvveeee meeeeeeeeeeeeee.
That said, I'm off to sleep, because I've only had like five hours, and this is my vacation.
Going to Canada tomorrow. To eat. Eat. Eat. And shop. *sigh*
