In other news, apparently people are finally realizing that Relena Darlian/Peacecraft (whichever you prefer) is not the complete bitch certain writers make her out to be. She has become sympathizing!Relena who pushes Heero to Duo and pushes back her tears. This is all good and great, but I really would like to see fics where she's herself and she needs no man or woman to back up her convictions, that she is as happy as to be herself than to be the girlfriend of one or another. -_- Yes, it's very idealistic of me.

Certain things annoy me about this new trend. People crow about how 'mature' they've gotten with their new 'sympathetic' view of Relena. It puts a sour taste in my mouth considering so many of us (well, relatively few in the fandom) have defended her since the beginning and so many of us have been shot down and dismissed as 'prejudiced' against yaoi (or slash, if that term has no meaning). Liking Relena meant automatically you were against yaoi, even though I know a majority of us enjoyed yaoi all the same and some felt it was okay but preferred het, which is alright, because many prefer yaoi and not het. It's the same.

Maybe I'm being picky, but I'm somewhat irrationally pissed off, but it's hard not to be. Sometimes.

There's nothing like finding old friends in the LJ community. Things you thought you'd left behind (or rather, abandoned, in my case) suddenly appear again... ^___________________________________________^

A fic rec for those who like GW fics: Lilias has a wonderful arc called 'Complicated'. You can find it at GW Addiction under her author name, and I have to say, it's still one of the best 2XR and 1XR (and of course, 1XRX2X1X2XRX1) out there. liliascrescens proves that the stereotype that you cannot like Relena if you like yaoi, wrong.

By the way - that WHR fic? It's actually working.
