vaguely annoyed
Feb. 19th, 2004 08:06 pmEqual rights. Not special rights.
Secular society. Not religious society.
Freedom. No questions asked.
Love. Bigotry aside.
Lesbians aren't just for straight men.
Bisexuality isn't just a way to play both fields.
Think of the children.
Gay men aren't all young and stereotypically pretty.
Marriage is and isn't special.
God is not capricious.
God loves all.
There really shouldn't be much of a conflict or battle of indecision. I make myself an example. I knew nothing of what homosexuality was until early high school. Why? Because it was so taboo in my family that no one ever talked about it. My mom is Catholic. My dad is very much homophobic. But no one talked about it.
I found out on my own.
And I saw nothing wrong with homosexuality.
A person can be influenced. To say that it's instinctually wrong is wrong in itself. If that theory holds water, I should have been disgusted. But I wasn't. I believe this is better than being raised and instructed that homosexuality and bisexuality was evil. And it's better than being raised and instructed that homosexuality and bisexuality is special.
Because it's not. It's all the same. People just want to think it's different.
Love is love is love. Sex is sex is sex. Blah is blah is blah. Don't fall into the trap of being homophobic. But don't fall into the trap of being so pro-gay that it becomes a single issue, though it shouldn't be. I'm not professing myself very clearly, but that's just my thoughts, muddled they may be.
I do think God (if one exists) would be weeping right now for all the violence carried out in his name.
