tenipuri_yaoi, and am pleased to note that the fanfics are very good. My only hesitation is the usual will-they-hate-me-because-I-like-Sakuno question. I seriously doubt it though, since the group info lists that they won't tolerate any bashing of any character. A number of willy shrieks does the trick.
New manga to watch out for: +Anima. I've only read the first few chapters, but it's very, very good. Kind of sad, a little cliche - in terms of human vs. animal-imbued - but overall, a lovely piece of work that has beautifully detailed art, a number of interesting characters, the usual slashable pairings, the possibility of a very cool - unless difference in age is distasteful to some - het pairing, and - perfect for those burned out - a plot that's actually rounded enough to follow. >_<
I was in the library yesterday and someone was watching Naruto next to me. It was the eps when the Third Hokaga and Orochi are battling. I got a very good glimpse of Kakashi spotted with blood. My heart did a little flip-flop, and I automatically put put Sakura and Ikura there to clean it all up. There's some very good fanart somewhere... the Kakashi/Sakura pairing is a minority favorite in Japan, and there's a good number of Japanese fansites dedicated to the two. I think I'll rummage some of my favourite pieces of art to convert some of you into KakaSaku fans. Why? Because whenever I think of those two, I shiver all over, and they are my darlings. I'm a little surprised too, considering I should be a KakaIru fan due to the adorable BLUSH that occurs when the two are with each other. And binatch! They are so not the usual dominant/submissive couple. *thoughtful* Though I suppose most like Kakashi on top simply because he's a Jounin and Iru's a Chuunin. But top!Iruka is strangely appealing.
But back to fanfic writing: working on a new PoT fic: Shinji and Kamio. I think they're my favourite PoT couple. More than any other couple, and I have no idea why. Has anyone noticed a resemblance between manga!Kamio (in terms of style and the way he's drawn) and manga!Sanji from One Piece? Anyone? No one? Seriously though, Kamio completely reminds me of Sanji. However, that's not why I adore the two of them together. They're just... so... CUTE! Shinji's off-topic mutterings and his tendency to react in physical violence and Kamio's tendency to react in verbal violence... wah. They're so adorable. This is bad. I've got it bad.
I'm quickly becoming in favour of Eiji/Oishi too, but that's just because they're the sweetest couple that's practically canon. Yeah, it's so canon that it hurts my teeth. They know each other like *snap*. Oddest thing is that I wasn't that fond of them when I first started, but whenever I see them play tennis together. *grin*
Now... as for Tezuka and Fuji... Hm. They're one of the most popular, besides Tezuka/Ryoma, Ryoma/Momo, and Inui/Kaidoh, but seriously, I just don't feel anything for them. I've bumped into a couple of really good fics, but otherwise, I'm not inclined to read them very much at all. *frowns* It's odd, especially since I love Tezuka and I love Fuji... just not together. Hrm. Maybe it's the FujiYuutacest fangirl squealing in me, though I really like YuutaMizuki.
Other favourite pairing is Shishido/Ohtori. The moment he cuts his hair to get back on the team, I was like, oh wow. You are so much more invested in this game than anyone else, and if anything, I'm a sucker for dedicated players who are willing to sacrifice their hair (also a sucker for long hair) for a spot on the team. And then Ohtori is willing to give up his own spot! XD Their relationship is all subtext, but darn it, the subtext makes me want to wallow in the intensity of it all. And, um, if to be vain, aesthetically, they look best together.
Inui/Kaidoh is a subverted fave. I like the unlikeable characters, and those two verge on it. The scene where Inui invites Kaidoh to play doubles with him... oh, I could hear the horizontal tango there. >_< They have the muscles in the group; nothing delicate about the two, and you can just imagine their relationship balancing between the delicacy of roughness and the strength of a wet towel. Wet towel!

But, erm, yeah. Didn't I say the plethora of pairings were plentiful? *grin* Perhaps there's even more versatility than Harry Potter. I've got other favourites, but I obsess (of the moment) about these most. Seriously...
I'm doomed.
