(no subject)
Jun. 7th, 2005 09:43 pmI had lunch today with
capnexposition and dinner with
theladyfeyelene. Oh yes. I am teh busy.
Not really; I'm actually kind of bored without school to torture me.
But guess what? I have a fandom story for some of you to hear. This will make no sense to a lot of people on my flist because this goes back to my days in the Yuu Yuu Hakusho fandom. These were the days before bittorrent, before direct downloads, before yousendit. This was also, amazingly enough, before ff.net.
So, in the YYH fandom, there was this writer called Whitecat. Whitecat will probably be known to some of you. She wrote a fic I loved, called "Tomodachi". Hm, how shall I make a comparison so people know what I'm talking about? Okay, say you have a favourite HP fic author for the longest time and you've always wanted to meet them. Say, after the years and several fandoms, you lose most of your desire, but that writer is still there in your mind as, you know, one of those first fic writers.
I'm not saying she was a BNF (because really, that would be kind of an insult considering the status of BNF's these days...) but since fanfiction was a lot more rare in those days than it is now, she had a following. Didn't hurt YYH had a bigger-than-usual fandom. Remember, this is the days before GW. -_-;;
So. Yeah. Guess who I met today?
=)
Whitecat. And on a funny note, I had met and talked to her before without ever realizing it. It was only today The Truth was revealed to me. To say I had a minor heart attack would be an understatement. It'd be like meeting... I don't know, certain HP fic authors of the Snape persuasion? I don't follow her works anymore, but this was a fandom thing that happened entirely out of the blue.
;_; I know this seems like such a small deal, but it was like closing a chapter in my fandom history. One small part of my fandom life is closed now that I've adjusted the image in my mind to reality. I also finally, finally, finally, finally got to say something to someone about what it was like for a Relena fan to survive in the GW fandom all those harsh years. Now I just need to see Talya Firedancer and throw that little nugget of weight off my back...
... I'll just be quiet now.

FFVII: Dirge of Cerebus
Jun. 7th, 2005 11:51 pmThe official website has gone up!
For some reason, I kind of wanted to start weeping when I saw it. Because the sudden surge of FFVII related material is just... staggering. I mean, just staggering. At least one new game, a cell phone game that's gotten a huge following (already at thirteen chapters!), a movie that everyone's dying to see, maybe a couple remakes in the wings... this is still like some surreal dream for me.
*prays* Please, please, please - let Yuffie be in the game. Please let Yuffie be in the game in a prominent way. Please let Yuffie and Vincent tagteam the game.
Please?
