I was in Osaka for a day after the trip, and I caught some random virus there because once I got back to Toyama, I was sick as a kitty.
I was only in Manila for five days, barely enough to scratch the surface of the Philippines, but what I saw definitely makes me want to come back! I had no time to see Boracay or Cebu, so I stuck to the sights in the city, or at least, reachable by van. It was seriously so much fun! I hit most of the tourist sites in the city, and I got to see the... river? It's called the Patangon (damn, that's a spelling mistake) river and fall, apparently famous for having part of Apocalypse Now filmed there? It was gorgeous; we were completely soaked from head to toe by the waterfall, so when it started raining on our way back, it worked in out favor. It was one of the best experiences of the trip, methinks, my friend and I being paddled and towed back to our landing spot while we're being pummeled by rain. XD
It wasn't as last minute as just within the last few weeks. I had been resigned to staying in Japan for the summer but one of my fellow JETs heard I wanted to go and decided to go to, which made it utterly FABULOUS.
I'm definitely coming back to the Philippines and next time, I'm definitely going to try to find ya!
