but there was just such a build-up, such an intensity and electricity between Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper that it never ceases to blow me away.
Oh, it was the same for me too! I remember finishing S1 and being so mad at the end that Christopher Eccleston was going and that some new guy named David Tennant was coming in. I had the DVDs and I spend a couple of days wrinkling my nose at S2 and S3, thinking that there was no way he'd be as good. Which, in a way, he isn't. I love, love, love Ten and Tennant now, but Nine is always going to be the Doctor I love the most because he was my first Doctor. (that sound vaguely creepy, doesn't it?)
Eccleston and Piper had amazing chemistry; it worked so well for them and I actually felt it as a viewer. Tennant and Piper have excellent chemistry too, of course, but... ugh, I hate the fact that I don't like them equally, but yeah, I have to admit... I'm always going to prefer the Ecceleston/Piper combination to the Tennant/Piper one, regardless of how much I enjoy Ten/Rose!
