I was cramping so badly last night that I threw up once, couldn't sleep until three AM, and then woke up at 9:15 AM, and had to rush to get to class by 9:30. Failed miserably, and got there around 10, because I had to print out two papers.

Yah.

And I just read comments in a livejournal that just incensed me beyond belief. When, oh when, did the anime fandom, or any fandom, become an exclusive club? Oh, you have to know this or have that attitude to join. Oh, you must read this fanfic or know this author to be 'in'. Oh, you must enjoy this kind of anime or know this obscure fact about your favourite anime.

I'm sorry, but that sounds a hell like snobbiness to me.

I think nearly every fandom has such issues to varying degrees. And I think you know my position on that poseur shite.

How can "anime" be exclusive. There are so many kinds of anime. That is like saying the "horror movie" fandom is exclusive. Ok so bad analogy (it's the first thing that popped in my head) but you get my jist. It's just to damn broad!

Isn't it? It's much like they feel that only fans who "really" appreciate the shows, like talk the talk and walk the walk, can be counted as "true" fans. *rolls eyes* One of the things (pet peeve of mine at that) is the plethora of the japanese language (romanization!) in fics. Hello? You are NOT a native speaker of Japanese. Don't try to use it like you are. *rants* If a person can't read a story, it makes the story USELESS. *rants some more* Yeah, you know me.

I totally agree with you. It's obnoxious. It it doesn't make you look "cool" to pretend to know Japanese. I don't understand people.
