Long Denied by cousin D has been updated!
Chapter 24 is here.
I especially adore parts where other Juunishi examine the relationship of Akito, Shigure, and themselves. Makes the story bursting at the seams with emotion and secrets. The story, up to this point, had not used Kagura, but I thought it was only because the story was so focused around Shigure, Akito, Yuki, Kyo, and Tohru. But finally! Kagura appears and her love for Kyo is still as deep and beautiful as before. *loves* I said it once and I'll say it again. Aside from Akito, Kagura and Ritsu are probably my favourite characters. XD And this has a healthy dose of ALL THREE!
It had hurt when Yuki and Kyou didn't bother showing up for New Years and it hurt when the family had begun to love that strange, frightening girl, Honda Tohru, but nothing had ever hurt like this.
Oh, Akito. I could just love you forever. It brought back bits and pieces from the anime and manga and threaded them into Akito's psyche in the most useful way. Of course Akito was hurt by Yuki and Kyo's abandonment of the New Years celebration. And for him to feel that everyone was leaving him to circle Tohru... he must have been so frightened.
"You think too many dark thoughts for such a young child."
You got that right, Count D. Akito is young. Very, very young. And many of the Juunishi (and fans of FB) tend to forget that.
Akito knew he wouldn't last long. In a way, Akito was grateful to die.
*cries*
At that, Akito's ears perked up. "Yuki? Kyou? They're at your home?" His words didn't come out as clear as Akito had thought they should be. His voice sounded muddled and it was hard to move his lips properly.
See? See? SEE?! He cares for his family so much! Even Kyo who he often ridicules and voices hatred for. His love for all his Juunishi is so deep that no one can fathom the wellspring of whence it comes... yeah, that was cheesy. But no matter how much abuse Akito heaps on his Juunishi, I can still see his obsessive love for them. If do not love, you cannot hate.
Akito was nothing in the world; he had absolutely no importance at all except to die for his family.
That is sad. To know that you have no other meaning than to die. I always shiver when I'm reminded about Akito's life like that.
That question stopped Akito cold. It was something he'd never even dared to wish for. "You are cruel."
Hee hee hee. Of course Count D is cruel.
Shigure would have been talking non-stop about something, anything that would take Akito's mind off the darkness and the quite
'Quiet' of course. Cousin D has said that the story will be revised once it's all finished. But isn't this a ringer of a line? The chatter; the only thing to keep the darkness away.
Kureno's eyes fell shut and he slumped down, halfway falling on top of Akito.
Oh, don't we WISH! *evil grin*
Not only your curse haunts you, but also abuse you suffered as a child.
Ren? Or something else?
A pain so great that Akito wanted to look away.
Shigure's eyes... he was the last to turn away. I was surprised that Rin turned after Hatsuharu. Which means that as much as Rin might hate Akito, there's something that's telling her to forgive and love Akito as much as she possibly can.
Then, even that faded and Akito was completely, utterly alone for the first time in his life.
And is that good or bad?
"Poor child." Count D muttered.
Okay, anyone who has read the manga Petshop of Horrors will know that Count D holds very little affection for humans in general. And while the Juunishi aren't exactly human, for Count D to make that statment of honest sadness... well, it says something about what Akito has suffered.
Even now, as he'd examined Akito's psyche, D wondered if this boy had ever had even one peaceful night's rest in his life. It seemed very likely that Akito had suffered nightmares his whole life.
The next chapter will be Akito-free, but the one after that may be The One that which deals with Akito's damanged mind. If he can live through this (and, um, I REALLY hope he does), then everything will change for the Juunishi. XDXDXDXDXD!!!!!!
No matter what their good intentions, it was likely that they would do more harm than good in whatever they tried to do.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions after all. *wink*
My happiness is unparalleled right now.
