Well.
A rumour is flying fast and furious. That Akito is... female?!
Yep.
For those new to this news, please don't go off and defriendaltar_of_akito immediately. It's still quite possibly not what we're led to believe by the easily excited crowds. Yes, there is a hard raw scan of Akito looking into the mirror with the unmistakeable curves of breasts.
Whether this is bad or not depends on your outlook. Whether Akito is male or female, he (um... she... forget it. I'll stick with 'he' until this is all resolved) is still the same sadistic, beautiful, bitter, dying child who screamed when Kureno was supposedly released from the Curse. He's still the one who's, in Kazuma's words, a "frail and unsteady child". No matter whether Akito's female or male, the parts of the boy-God we love are still there.
It just means we have other angles to work at now.
I won't say I'm not disappointed, if it's true. If Akito's female, then his reaction to Rin and all the females near him have just been given an ugly new twist that I'm not sure I like. Females have often been portrayed as bitter and vengeful harpies, and this is just adding oil to the ever-burning fire of female-bashing. Theories regarding Akito's past would be rendered moot within moments if 'he' is actually a 'she'.
But until Ch.97 is actually released online and more of us can get our hands on it, there can be no real understanding. All of my current panic and frustration is based on one single scan of someone who likes exactly like Akito staring at himself in the mirror with breasts hanging off his chest.
As for fics... well. I've thought of Akito as male for 96 chapters. I can deal. -_-

Kureno isn't cursed anymore. Why, anyone can theorize, but it has something to do with Akito. That's all I'm sure about. The curse is starting to break, and Akito's going crazybittermad about it. From what I'm reading, it seems like Akito is deathly afraid of being alone.
