demeter918: blue doraemon cat (Demeter)

Oh, I'm going to be a cranky, stressed, overworked bitch this quarter.

But once this quarter is over and I get this load off my requirements, I'll have a fairly free and easy coast through the rest of my senior year. I know, it sounds as weird to me as it must to some of you. This LJ was literally birthed along when I was a freshman in college. All I knew while writing in my LJ for these past few years was college, so graduation will be one of those big changes that hasn't yet happened on the LJ. There was my grandfather's death, moving back and forth between dorm and home, but graduation will be this (to me at least, I know some of you look at this as incredibly boring. ^^) huge huge huge change.

Eep. It makes me a little nervous.

In an attempt to finish two majors for graduation, I'm stretching myself to the limit with five classes (which is a full load plus two) and working from 9-5 on Fridays in the company I was working as intern in the beginning months of summer. Seriously, I feel my childhood slipping away from my fingers. =( Soon I'll be renting an apartment, paying all my bills (as opposed to some of them), and figuring out the complicated system of taxes without my parents. Yeah. It's a leettllleee frightening. Here's hoping for me that I land the position I want in teaching English in Japan. My dream has always been going there for a year or two, and this is one of the best and most convenient ways to fulfill it. >_<

Literature of Developing Countries
English Literature: The Age of Queen Elizabeth
American Political Culture: After 1865
Advanced Expository Writing
Intermediate Short Story Writing

The professor for the Elizabethan literature is incredible. I'm already looking forward to his classes and the possibilities he might be teaching me. >_< It's geeky, but yeah, I'm in love with him. *grin* He's also like seventy, so no worries there.

In anime otaku news: I've broken down and started buying the English editions of certain manga. One, I'm too lazy to go find the shorter series in their glorious Chinese translation. And two, I feel like I should support the efforts of the US manga companies in putting out more, how shall I say, risky manga. *wink*

FAKE 1-7 - I LOVE this series. I was surprised at the intensity of my love, because I didn't think I'd like it at all, but oh. Ryo. Dee. Bikky. Carol. Rose. DIANA! JJ! In a fit of weirdness, I completely latched onto two members of the supporting cast; namely Diana and JJ. Definitely unrequited love vibes working there. Diana was so gorgeous and JJ was so cute. *dreamy* If I didn't entertain hardcore fantasies involving Diana/Rose and JJ/Drake, I'd be rooting for the two of them. However, they'd probably tear each other apart within a few weeks. -_- I went to pieces in V.7 though. I really cannot believe that they PRINTED it. Man on man hawt sex! And yes, I know Gravitation has it too, but FAKE did it before so nyah. I'm probably not going to buy Gravitation since I have the series in Chinese, but you never know.

Demon Ororon 1-4 - I've raved before, and I'll rave again. Short, sweet, and OMG, the love. Tall, lithe, beautiful, and I absolutely adore Othello. His depiction is one of the most original sketches I've seen for a demon. For one thing, he did get married and he did love her. And the fact that he was what? nine? when he married her is just icing on the cake. Othello is one of those fabulous characters you read and you just can't forget. The Mitsume factor made me go GAH.

Eerie Queerie 1-4 - I finally got the last volume and while I was disappointed (supremely) by the lack of shagging, sweet shonen-ai deserves to be loved and loved and loved. >_<

Immortal Rain 1-3 - It's not finished yet, but oh, I'm already in love with it. Kaori Ozaki is one of those artists that you take a little time to like. Her characters aren't leggy and thin apparitions - but the facial expressions. *sounds* They're exquisite. No other word for it. XD And I love her storyline here and how it runs almost frenetically and slowly at the same time. I've read a couple of her other series, but this one is the best thus far. I especially like her female heroines.

That's basically it for the English manga. I probably will buy the Fruits Basket sets because I want to support Akito. And I'll probably get Bleach too since I adore the series. But unfortunately, none of the other ones. I love Rurouni Kenshin and Prince of Tennis, but I'd prefer to save money for the lesser-known series. ^_^ Support originality! Support smaller mangaka!

The fic isn't actually about the two of them per se, but oh. Go read. If you like Yuffie in even the littlest bit, read this fic. Um, a little bit of background knowledge on Kingdom of Hearts is advised though not required. I'm pretty sure everyone knows that Leon (AKA Squall Leonhart) is in the game and he's very hot and he hangs out with Aeris and Yuffie, but poof! Read the fic anyways.

The Lion in the Meadow by Guardian1. Abso-fucking-lutely gorgeous fic. It makes me want to play Kingdom of Hearts and then write barrels of Yuffie/Leon fic. XD One of the odder couples (though Yuffie and Vincent were pretty odd) of the sprawling FF fandom.

And two more recs, cause I feel like it. =P

Born to be Broken by NaPap. Chapter 8 was just put up. I should remind everyone that this is one of my favourite ongoing Akito fics at the present. I love the way Akito and Kureno are shown in here and best of all? There's plot and mystery and curses going on all the while Akito angsts, Kureno angsts, Shigure and Ayame get it on, and hijinks happen like the destruction of floorboards. I kid you not. ^_^

Why Me? A Love Story for Manic Depressives. Yuffie/Vincent in a... new way. I suppose. There's aspects of it a little jarring, but I'm guessing any Yuffie/Vincent fan will love this fic. Cause I do, and I love the voice in it. >_< They're so cute! And the ending of the latest chapter? Entertains all my Beauty/Beast obsessions.

I have more fic recs, tons more. But the long day of classes is starting to kill off my brain cells. *dies*

*snugs* hang in there...

JJ!!!!!!! i SO love JJ! he's so cute, and he's so in love... *sparkles* he's the best! poor boy, never quite understood that dee was not looking for a puppy.... *cuddles JJ* ^_^

EQ lacked sex, but it had cute little mitsuo (sp??!?!? right name?!?! ha!) arguing with the tall, dark h. (nooooo chance of spelling that right...) over who got to top. loved that. ^_~

am now curious about immortal rain, dammit. and i want ororon 4 sooooooo badly...

^_~

XD JJ is one of my favourite characters and he's so ADORABLE! I completely feel Drake/JJ vibes from the manga, and the way Drake pets JJ? It fits in the way Dee wouldn't have been able to give JJ. XD.

I loved how Mitsuo and Hasunama (I think) argued about who was going to be on top. For once, the rule about the taller one didn't fit in there and the cliches about girly men and manly men were thrown out the window for EQ.

Ororon 4 is... GAH. No words for it.

OHO. took only 1) yuffie/vincent, and 2) an absolutely gorgeous fic mentioned in conjunction before it hit me that I was just spazzing over the exact same fic like, yesterday. XD Guardian is fucking awesome. Have you read her other stuff? -- the one that's primarily Yuffie/Vincent comes to mind, "Sunshine in Winter", I think it is. And OMG, Go Not Gently, and OMG, 13 Ways, and OMG and <33333333x987231 and so on and so forth.

I have found a fellow Guardian fangirl. Such a small, small world this is.

I am SUCH an embarassingly ardent fan of Guardian. She has some of the most fantastic Yuffie/Vincent fics and "Sunshine in Winter" made me go XD and ^0^ and >_< so many times over. I nearly died waiting for each chapter to come out... oh the good old days. "Go Not Gently" is the first fic EVER for me to even entertain the idea of Vivi/Eiko and it made sense. GAH.

We are fellow soldiers in the fangirling of Guardian. ^_^

Gah, yeah, most of my friends are in their senior year. Thats one thing I don't regret about not going to college. ;-)

I'm going to be hanging out at the campus this weekend, actually, and trying to be sympathetic to those who have homework and things they need to do.

I think we have two classes together (Taranath's and that sounds-like-slow-torture American Political Culture class (we must both be scrambling to fulfill the same grad requirements ^_~) ...We should exchange manga o.O; If I have anything you wanna read, that is...

YAH! *explodes in excitement* Everything is about fulfilling graduation for senior year. No more pussyfooting around. Taranath's class is basically the one class entirely based on pleasur and interest. ^_^

We must exchange manga. *grin*grin*grin*grin* You're going to love Demon Ororon.

So can you tell me whether you have to know Japanese to teach English there? I've heard you don't but I don't see how you couldn't. O.o I know some, a very little some from anime, hehe, and I would like to learn the kanji soon.

Technically, most programs don't require it. But if you did know some, it definitely wouldn't hurt. Since I know kanji like the back of my hand and my sister explained to me that hiragana and katakana are fairly easy to learn once you grasp it, I think I can deal by communicating through writing.

If you live in an urban area like Tokyo or Osaka, the need for Japanese is far less than if you live in the countryside. A big plus is if you're an English major because they target those students since they assume they have a good grasp of English.

Pay varies, but if you're worried about safety or problems, it's probably easiest to go with JET, the official program with the Japanese government. The pay isn't as good as private programs, but things go smoothly like work visas and stuff.

If you do go, tell me! Maybe we can end up in the same city or near each other! It's really easy to travel within Japan, so we could see each other!

Hmm, I see, thanks for the info. I would like to teach in Tokyo preferably, it's the happenin place. :D It's just something I've been tossing around in my head. If I go, I'll certainly let you know. It would be nice having someone I know close by cause I'll probably get a bit lonely.
