;_;

I just found out Michelle Kwan withdrew from the Olympic Team.

I've been fan since she was placed on the Olympic Team at age 13 and was bumped off by Nancy Kerrigan.

... It's impossible to describe just how much I was hoping she would get her gold. She made me interested in a sport.

She'll be twenty-nine when the next Olympics rolls by. I don't think it'll be possible anymore.

This is so fucking tragic.

Me too... I was so excited when she made the Olympic team at the age of 13 and I was so disappointed for her to be bumped off by Nancy Kerrigan. And it's just so stupid that 13 years later, she had to withdraw from what is probably her last chance at the Olympics.

I remember being so upset when she only got the bronze in 2002. Though Hughes absolutely deserved the gold. Damn Tara Lipinski. :(

For me, figure skating was a lot more about artistic expression rather than the jumps. Sure, the jumps are exciting, but they're not about to stay in your mind aside from the few seconds post. Which is why I was always so attached to Michelle Kwan. She could jump, but she was also very much into the small movements that enhanced her programs by the whole... which basically means: yeah, I liked her better. -_-;;

Yeah I heard she was injured. Poor dear. I was pulling for her too. Oh well. She'll always be the best to me, Gold Medal or not.

Btw thank you for the vitrual chocolates. You're such a sweetheart. *HUGS*

;_; That's sad news. She's a class act, and you're right, by 29 most athletes are past their prime, except maybe the cross-country skiers.

I kind of hope she might still be able to make it? Maybe she'll be the one who can break the age barrier into a new realm...

Well, it was kind of selfish for her to ask for a 'special favor' when she couldn't go to that competition awhile back. They are supposed to pick the top two, and while I think you are absolutely right...she deserves a million gold medals, I feel bad that she asked to go without competing. I hope she is okay, though. I would be devastated. She will be too old the next time around. T_T Very disheartening.

She was using the same decision that Nancy Kerrigan had made nearly thirteen years ago. It was what got her bumped off the US team in 1994, so there was precedent for it. Well, maybe she can make it in 2010. She'll be 29... but maybe she'll be that skater who can break the barrier.
