Furuba 128

demeter918I gave up checking my flist after I went back eight hundred posts. Jeez. How much can you people post anyways? =)
Cause how could I not talk about something so OMGEXPLOSIVE! as 128?
You can tell the end is winding down when after so many chapters of individual revelation, you get a chapter where all sorts of characters show up, including those who have been pretty much tossed out before. We got Kagura, Kisa, Hiro, Akito, Shigure, Kyo, Haru, Yuki, Arisa, Saki, and but of course, Tohru. Veritable Furuba visual feast. And sue me, I grinned madly at the picture of Kagura still in the family compound. Say what you will about her, but loyalty is one of her strongest suits and I adore adore adore that about her.
Hiro and Akito look so cute next to each other! Even Hiro is looking huge when compared to Akito's delicate frame and I suppose it's even more obvious. I did notice, however, that she'd changed back into her traditional robes to talk to him. And yet she wore clothing that hugged her body and made her clearly a woman when standing next to Shigure. Is it because Hiro and the others still don't know exactly that she's a woman? Thinking about it, it's possible. After all, she'd been shuffled off almost immediately following the Kureno-Tohru-Akito-cliff fiasco. Yuki and Kyo didn't really have a chance to think, hey, look, her yukata is slipping off and OMFG IS THAT A BOOBIE???? cause, you know, they were kinda preoccupied with Tohru falling off a cliff.
So maybe they don't know. Akito has certainly been a bit more free about her clothing but that doesn't mean she's prancing around in lacy white dresses and singing I'm too sexy for my robes, too sexy for my robes. Though it sounds pretty awesome. Really awesome. ♥
Anyways, significance aside, the little gift bag was not lost on me and I thought it was just so, so, so cute that Shigure gave a present to Akito and to have him tease her without all that extra baggage. For one thing, there wasn't any of those looks that have made Shigure famous for his cruelty. He was teasing and smiling and wow, I think the guy is actually happy. Makes me wonder and despair for Akito's chastity. (joking, joking)
Akito's still as prickly as a pear, but I suppose after years and years of being on edge around everyone, she can be granted that little concession. Somehow, I feel that Shigure is actually enjoying it. Akito isn't getting bad or going on a rampage. She's just feeling terribly uncomfortable and new at everything in the world and Shigure might possibly see this as just the first step on his courtship.
In a way, Shigure and Akito never had one of those meet-date-date-date-kiss-date-makeout-date-maybe sex thing that a lot of people go through. Granted, these are Sohma people and nothing about the Sohma family is exactly normal but mmmm, perhaps Shigure enjoys the idea that from this point on, he can spend a majority of his time with her and not worry that there's someone else sleeping next to her at night. (which makes me wonder; who's been sleeping with Akito since Kureno was in the hospital? Shigure? Hatori?) Maybe he's dreaming about everything that can happen now as opposed to what might have happened before.
Anyone get the sense that Shigue finally has what he wants and everything else can now go fuck themselves? I kind of get that feeling. Sure, Kyo and Yuki being happy is a nice bonus but with this chapter, I'm pretty much sure that Shigure has gotten what he wants and everything else is icing on the cake. Which, actually, fits pretty well with his character.
Mmm.
Yuki, Haru, and Kyo's discussion of Akito was sublime, insomuch that it was the first time they could talk to each other about their much-feared leader without looking like they'd be sick or like they were going to destroy something. Fun. This gathering of Juunishi, young and old alike is going to be a truly, truly awesome scene. I only hope we have a few revelations, a few apologies, a few more apologies and I hope Shigure bends Akito over a table. Like, now.
Shoujo manga needs more sex, methinks.
Haru seems to have let go of his anger against Akito, but I'm wondering how this is going to pan out at the meeting of Juunishi and whether there can truly be closure for a family as fractured as theirs. Can Rin forgive Akito? Does Rin want to forgive Akito? I get the feeling that Rin has already done so but that she doesn't want to. Well, I'll leave the Rin-theorizing to others.
Kyo is so effing cute. Tohru is so EFFING CUTE. THEY ARE SO EFFING CUTE.

Emo angst, what? What emo angst? SHE IS RUNNING AWAY FROM HIM AND HE IS CHASING HER!!!!!!!!!!!1111

All in all, fabulous chapter and fabulous beginning of the end material and OMG, fabulous Akito. I think the next chapter will most likely focus on Machi/Yuki and Kyo/Tohru. Which leaves two chapters after that to wrap things up? Or is it one chapter? I guess that means I will not be getting a scene where Kagura suddenly reveals she's the actual protagonist of this story. ;)

Indeed. This chapter was just too awesome. Every single image was fantastic (ICONAGE!!!), the story was fantastic, and everyone's reactions have been so fun and interesting to read.
I was also very glad to see Kagura. I wonder if that box she's carrying will be brought up later or if it has any significance at all. Hiro and Akito are so cute together! You are right. All those guys have grown so much and Akito looks more and more delicate every time. She looks very much a girl in this chapter. And Shigure's smile. Wow. That smile. For the first time in forever, his smile looks actually contented and sincere.

I'm glad Tokyo went well. It sounds like you work a lot. Hope you get some time to rest and relax now that you're back home :-)

(That said, if the younger 12shi are completely conditioned to think of Akito as a delicate-looking man, it might take a lot to overcome a simple reaction of, my, isn't Akito looking girly today--good thing Yuki doesn't dress like that. Or something. But I wouldn't be surprised if Haru at least suspects *something*, like when he noticed Momiji's freedom from the curse without knowing exactly what it was.)
