Holy shit.

Firefly is AWESOME.

I downloaded the whole thing after I watched the movie, Serenity, and I just finished episode 12, The Message. EEP. There is so much good stuff and all the female characters just totally rock. My favourite is River, but Inara and Zoe and Kaylee are close behind! I can't believe how absolutely loffly the ladies are. (yes, yes, the men are pretty too, don't fret)

The opening song is so fantastic and it makes me think of so many things, like dusty farms and open prairie and it's just such a huge contrast between on the ship and off on some of the outer planets. I remember first hearing about it and being a bit skeptical; I mean, really. A space western? It sounded so silly. And then when the movie came out, I remember being a bit annoyed by the fanaticism of it all and how there were some fans inferring that if you didn't like Firefly, you were an idiot and not appreciative of the genius of Whedon. So I was turned off for a good long while... I'm still glad I waited until now, but at the same time, I'm glad I'm finally watching the series! I'm definitely purchasing the DVD set once I get back stateside since yes, it is that good.

Favourite pairing would probably be Jayne/River, Inara/Mal, and Mal/Simon. OMG, I adore River and Jayne and they hit all my weak spots! And the idea of them makes me go all weak in the knees. And OMG, WASH YOU ARE SO CUTE YOU ARE SO CUTE WITH YOUR DINOSAURS AND I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN "SERENITY". I love Zoe too; it's a definite keeper when I find something I like about all the characters. And Kaylee! She's so SHINY! And Book's hair. River screaming and throwing the bible pages down was probably one of my favourite scenes, especially coupled with the fact that she hid away and refused to come out after seeing it. XD

Now. If only they'd make more of the series...

There's a graphic novel out. Serenity: Those left behind. I think more are planned. I adore this series.

"Now if they'd only make more of the series..."

Shant happen, I fear. Several of the actors have moved on, and Joss himself has expressed a desire to have done with Firefly, after the debacle that was the early cancellation of the series. And what with the movie not doing as well as some had hoped in the box office, a trilogy seems right out as well. But yes, there may be more comics, though this lacks something, I know. Like methadone to a hop-head...

Ah well. I'm surprised you're only now getting into the series. I dunno why, this just startles me. XD

Hurray! More fans!

I know what you mean about irritating people saying the wrong thing and turning you off of something good for a long time, though. I'm glad you got over it. Firefly is teh awesomeness. ^_^

Yay for late Firefly bloomers! I just saw Serenity the ohter day too and bought the whole series dvd set. ^_____^ it's definitely love and it's really really sad they didn't make more of it/probably won't. It's so amazing and the characters are as well. I guess we'll just have to wait for Joss to come up with somethinge equally amazing to wow us with.
