Eh, I think for me, Furuba has become one of those series that needs to be wound down... right about now. Which is good, because the next chapter on the twentieth of November (THIS IS A HISTORIC DATE) will be the very last chapter, barring any surprise volumes from Takaya-sensei. Which wouldn't be unheard of; several series have had a volume of extras tacked on as ostensibly a standalone, but that which everyone knows is a way for the author to add more in without having to put into the series itself, and thus, into serialization. The ones that come up in my mind is the Koori series and the Kocha Oujisama series. I don't know whether I'd want one or not, since the standalones have a tendency of being really annoying cockteases.

Not all the loose ends will be tied up and not all of them can be; she has one lonely little chapter left and unless rocks fall and everyone dies, it'll be one of those chapters that will leave us happy and maybe vaguely curious... but probably just happy.

Definitely with you on that, for the most part. I think Furuba has been winding down for a while now, and there's no sense in prolonging a series like that.

I don't know what your thoughts are about Shigure and Akito getting more screen time - I know a lot of fans are frustrated about all the Kyohru focus in the past few chapters (and so close to the series' end!) I agree somewhat, but what more can we see with Akkigure? I feel like the relationship's gotten "closure" - or, at least that it can only keep going forward from where Takaya has left it. It feels as though the only thing left is for them to have hot monkey sex on the pages of HtY (which was sort of implied by the splash image for chapter 132?)

Is the speculation that Takaya's made multiple endings just that? I don't know how I feel about multi-endings - too tacked on, maybe? (I had mixed-feelings about Hanakimi's alternate ending.) What are your feelings about alternate endings?

unless rocks fall and everyone dies,

Akito and Shigure, for me, are essentially finished. Sure, they're going to have a lot of problems but hoo boy, how is Takaya going to be possibly deal with twenty years of guilt, hatred, abuse, and loads of other problems in a few dinky chapters? I think not. If anything, Akito and Shigure would probably need their own personal series to make a dent on their relationship.

-_- I love Akito/Shigure as much as the next person, but seriously people. This series started out with Tohru, Kyo, and Yuki. It was going to end with two of the three whether you like it or not.

I heard the rumour, and it may have had something to do with satisfying herself with the knowledge that she had the ending that fitted her series rather than the ending that fitted fan's expectations.

Alternate endings are fine and dandy with me overall; I usually just choose the ending I like best and go from there. Or figure that it's an alternate universe where I can wreak havoc with if I want. XD

I feel the same way about the series ending with the Trio. It sort of bugs me that people are complaining to the utmost degree on that.

And about the alternate endings: definitely. I feel that if Takaya wants to do alternate endings, then she should. If she doesn't, that's cool too. It's her story, and she should do what ever feels right, regardless of whether it fits fan expectations (though it's great that she thinks of us and all.)

As for AUs... I just solidified my feeling that anime!male!Akito is hot. ... XD;;;

Thanks for answering my questions! I really enjoy reading your thoughts.

I feel pretty much the same ways. I haven't really had much to say about the last couple of chapters, and I guess that's a sign that I'm ready for things to end. Furuba is letting us down fairly easy, compared to Death Note, which was just like CRASH THE END LOLZ. I had a lot of stuff to say after that, but no words have been coming to me for Furuba. =/ I guess partly because I came into the mangaverse for the Akito, and I suppose I'll be leaving for the Akito as well.

BTW, I totally owe the fact that I'm even this far into Furuba manga fandom to you, my dear. ;)

CRASH THE END LOLZ

Rocks fall and everyone DIES!

We were mutually pulling, because your Akito/Kureno love kept some of it alive for me. =) The Akito vibe built and built and it went down in a huge way because Akito's obstacles have been removed one by one and she's even fairly happy now. And happiness makes for a content Deme and a content Deme sometimes doesn't write fic very well. 0_0

unless rocks fall and everyone dies I strangely laughed out loud at that. :P I'm in an odd mood.

=P I sometimes wish long-running series would use that gag just once.

!! That reminds me, I was going to email you but I wasn't sure if your address was still the same. I was wondering if I could ask you to pick up a copy of the HtY with the last chapter for me, and I'd find a way to pay you back for it (no idea what s&h on something that heavy would be) . . ? (Please don't worry about saying no if it's too inconvenient or anything. ^^)

Even after knowing the end was on its way for so long, and expecting it to come sooner than it has, I'm still kind of in denial about it. >.> (I'd be happy with a standalone. ^^)

It's been a nice run, but it is time to wrap things up. I'll miss Furuba. I let my Hana to Yume subscription slide in August since I knew the story was coming to an end (and because the other series currently running in there just didn't enthrall me like Furuba) and honestly, I'll miss those, too.

And I'll really miss your rants about Akito (and Shigure)! *cries*
