X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Saw it finally and while I totally enjoyed it on a visceral level, there is definitely a part of me that's just a wee bit disappointed.
Wolverine's shady past is one of his appeals. But I'm probably one of the few who doesn't really mind that aspect of the movie. Origins, whatev, that's all cool. What really disappointed me was the addition of all these extra powers and mutants. I kept waiting for one defining moment and I never got it. There were times I felt excited (like when Cyclops first appeared on screen) or REALLY excited (like when Gambit first shows up) but nothing ever got me bouncing on my seat like the first and second (less said about the third is best) X-Men movies did.
And dude.
If you're going to bring in Gambit, WHERE IS ROGUE? And really, vice-versa. I kept waiting for Gambit to show up in the X-Men movies so he and Rogue could have their, ahem, sexual tension thing while Bobby (gosh, I kind of don't like him) goes off to... I don't know, do something else. Iceman was probably the most boring character ever in the series. Yes, yes, he's a sweet young thing, but the guy gets on my nerves. (if this sounds rather sudden, it is. He kind of was just there before, but I just rewatched all three movies and it was a little too much Iceman for my tastes.)
Now, Gambit. I don't know. Maybe I didn't get to see enough of him or something. Or maybe I saw too much. He wasn't exactly my ideal Gambit, but considering the fact that there probably isn't an ideal Gambit, he's adequate. There wasn't enough snark, though. Where was snarky, flirty Gambit? I would have LOVED if he'd flirted with Wolverine. But there WAS NO FLIRTING. Not enough suave, but... he's Gambit. They probably could have gotten a corpse to play him and I'd still be excited.
I guess my main point is that there just wasn't enough OOMPH! to it. I got my taste of Wolverine and Sabretooth and Gambit and Deadpool (hohoho) and even Scott, but overall, it felt like an action movie with the perfunctory plot-advancing scene thrown in every so often.
... though this doesn't mean I won't see it again. Hey, I liked those action scenes. XD
I keep waiting for a Gambit movie that'll feature Rogue.
HA.
