I've been busy the last couple - okay, okay, many - months, but it's Wednesday and I've seen two movies this week. The Proposal on Monday and Transformers on Tuesday. I liked both, though Transformers was a wee bit disappointing. I'm all about badass robots and witty one-liners in movies, but dude, when I'm getting bored because I can't tell what's going on due to all the explosions, you might have a problem.

Otherwise... no, I did enjoy it. The only thing I wish is that they'd stuck more with the robots from the first movie and tried less to include new ones. C'MON. GIVE ME MY RATCHET AND IRONHIDE. AND MORE 1st!Mikaela and less of this sexed-up version.

The Proposal was cute. Haven't seen a romantic comedy in a long time, so it was a treat to see one that was actually enjoyable. Lovely, indeed!

BUT IN OTHER NEWS.

Harry Potter is coming soon, two weeks! TWO WEEKS.

I'm getting all itchy and excited about this movie, especially the parts that'll involve flashbacks. And I'm looking forward to Snape and Draco's parts in this... well, particularly Snape. And Narcissa. And Dumbledore. And Luna. Oh, heck, all of them. (but Luna!!!!!)

Also, I'm just the teensiest bit annoyed about the crowers who say Twilight has replaced Harry Potter. I DON'T THINK SO. Argh, how can you even compare the two, augh augh augh augh augh augh augh. I know, I know, different strokes for different people, yah, I'm being kind of petty, and hai, why should I even-care-they're-fictional, but YO. TWILIGHT VS HARRY POTTER? Doesn't that make anyone feel like they've dropped down a rabbit warren, only to run backwards from zombie lizards?

Um. Or maybe just me...

(Psst, I'm going to Chicago in September for Harry Potter: The Exhibition.)

Twilight vs HP?

Pfft. There's no contest. HP kicks. I've tried reading the Twilight book. I stopped as soon as it described Edward as sparkling a thousand diamonds.

Then, curiousity got the better of me and I decided to rent the movie. It was.... bad.... but then I started getting really into it...

Yesterday I picked up the book from where I left off and continued to read... I just... bad bad bad. I may continue to read the book. I don't know.

Harry Potter. In TWO weeks. I am uber excited. I was so pissed that they pushed the date back. What was their reason again?
But the characters in this series are a lot more developed than Twilight.

HP. No contest.

I didn't think so either, but it is kind of funny how Twilight is the next big thing, though I just don't see how it could be. Obviously, there's the matter of taste and preferences, so I hesitate to say that HP is better... but not really. Cause it is. So there. (see! I am being totally mature about it! ;))

I've been reading a series called 'House of Night'. It's about this girl who ends up being Marked for a vampyre fledgling. She must go to the House of Night school in order to learn to become an adult vampyre, becuase if she stays away she'll die. The schooling lasts four years. If a fledglings body rejects the Change, they die.

And... NO sparkles are in it. Sure, there's a bit of cussing and some sex ... I found it a relief since it's geared towards teens. About damn time editors allow 'real talk' in teen books. Highly recommend it!

Would you hate me if I said I'm a bit sick and tired of vampire-related books? Cause I am and it's a bit sad since I've loved them since a wee... well, not so-wee nine year old. I don't know, maybe they've just been overindulged or something, but I prefer my vampires violent and mildly disgusting. CANNOT STAND BEAUTIFUL VAMPIRES ANYMORE. The only vampire novel I've read in the past couple years that I liked was Robin McKinley's "Sunshine", where the vampires are gross and weird.

I don't like the Sookie Stackhour mysteries much either, though "True Blood" is interesting...
