Seeing as that isn't me... la la la la.

It's been eons, but I promise (as if my promises mean anything anymore) that this time, I'm here to stay. I've been re-inspired. My fanfics have seen reasonable growth, I'm getting ideas left and right, and there's even a snuggly Slayers fanfic growing at the peripheral of my stack of unfinished fics. My GundamWing Relena fic has progressed to more than I had intended when I started, and has now become a full-fledged Relena-gets-kidnapped-and-Heero/Duo-are-a-couple-btw-fic. Chock-full of my favorite sort of angst... yes! Relena-angst. *snuggles with the fic*

I'm doing well in all my classes, have finished my last trip to China (for hopefully a little while. Those twelve-hour plane trips can really kill you), and am caught up on what I term, "The Fandom Express". Sort of. If you only count the Slytherin Sector. And the Well Slytherin section. No whiny, automatically-evil brats for this witch.

Bush has proved disappointing in the diplomatic arena. I had some sort of vague hope for him, but they've all dissipated in the midst of the France-bashing/Europe-bashing. (Hey, those people were your god-damn ancestors.) Seeing as it's incredibly hard to get any worthy news in China, I returned to stalled war, a stalled economy, a stalled state, and what do you know? Raised tuitions at my university.

If it was Christmas, I would say "Bah Humbug".

But onto cheerier things! The Nimbus Convention is coming up, and I no longer know whether I want to go or not. It's been brewing in my mind that it's at an awfully expensive hotel. In order to put this into the context of my wrinkled-nose, yes, I can afford it (or rather, my mum can afford it - I can afford nothing). And yes, I can go. The plane tickets are bought and everything. (Somehow, my mum sees this as an opportunity to go and have a few days relaxing without being the continual workaholic)

But... expense. Even with group rates, for the nights that would prove the maximum fun, three nights total. Those rooms are meant for two people, not four, no matter what people say. And realistically, I doubt many are actually that eager to share rooms with total strangers with no idea of their hygiene and sleep patterns. (Cause no matter how friendly and lovey-dovey you are on the net, it's very, very different in RL)

Considering food, airplane tickets, souvenirs etc. etc... it's going to rack up a pretty hefty price. Most likely, there are people who can afford it, i.e. those who have actually volunteered to plan and coordinate this convention. But the ordinary minimum-wage worker (who also happens to enjoy HP books too) will not. Or perhaps the young adult in college who's scraping tuition payments together. Or the mother/father who also desperately wants to go... but food on the table? Or a trip to Florida?

We're talking some money here, especially for those on the West Coast. *shudders* I, and several people I know, live at the furthest end of the continental US. Washington state is pretty damn far from Florida.

I'm probably still going to go... unless a last moment sense of misdirected anger rears it's pretty little head and forces me to camp outside of our local news station and demand to be interviewed. Bwa ha ha ha ha.

But then I might get chased out of the fandom with fire and pitchforks. Or virtual pitchforks... maybe in the form of viruses. I've seen wicked things people have done to others they don't like, in the safe anonymity of the Net. With a capital 'N'.

And out of nowhere, a plot for a somewhat all-over-the-place HP fic has spawned, with Draco Malfoy and Percy Weasley (hopefully) as it's forceful characters. Oddly enough, they have nothing to do with each other. They just happen to be suffering at the same time, through oddly similar circumstances. The Curse of the Families.

Snape, Remus, Pansy (though, whether in an antagonistic or neutral for she can never be a sympathetic supporter of anyone but herself. *hugs Pansy*), has yet to be determined), Slytherin House in general, Hermione, Harry, Ron (I have yet to figure out how *not* to include these three in a Hogwarts fic. It's an epidemic), Dumbledore, Charlie (cause I wuve [livejournal.com profile] kay_taylor to bits and spinning from that, the love has spread to Charlie and Bill. Together. Forever. Well, maybe not forever, since I'm still addicted to Bill/Percy fics, and the idea of a Charlie/Pansy spin-off. Yes, I am evil), Bill, and a host of other characters are coming into play.

But dun-dun-dun... focus shall be on Draco, Percy, Snape, Remus (and I have yet to figure out how *not* to give into my desires for those two to be together... but wait? Why should I? They belong together!), and Voldemort play the biggest roles. And most complex (I hope). If it's not, I think I shall shoot myself in the head with a virtual gun (so it won't hurt -_-).

It's kind of... hard... to make Percy what I want him to be. I want him tragic. I want him beautiful. I want him with faults. I want him near perfection. I want him angsty (but not too), but I also want him with a rather Slytherin-ish outlook. And I want him snogging someone, not at the beginning, not at the end, but in the middle, so I can allow for a relationship to grow and for a relationship to end. Bwa. So it means someone unlikely. Eee. If I'm particularly brave (or stupid), I'm going to attempt Percy/Pansy. Yes. *runs away from the sudden frantic pelting of tomatoes* Cause I wuve those two, and why not tie them together for a little while?

~*~*~*~*~*~

And something that popped up when I opened my LJ today, and has oddly thrilled my little black boots right off my feet.

Snatched from [livejournal.com profile] xandria, since she invited us to promote, promote I shall, since I want to see very badly how Percy would kill, when Dumbledore first killed, who was Snape's first victim, and of course, whether Pansy would kill from fear/sadism/love/hate, blah, blah, blah. I've got plans (or rather, one plan) for her.

Welcome back.

Why would you get chased out of the fandom?

1. What did you do, or what are you planning to do that would be that bad?
2. You can't get chased out of a fandom. Just like you can't get voted in.

*giggle* It's just a joke of mine. Ostracization is a killer and I've seen the results when you 'cross' those who have 'influence'. *winks* You know what I mean.
