FFVII - Crisis Core

Or, in the words of my unbelievable happiness, it's ZACK OMFG.
I know a lot of people moan and groan about the commercialization of FFVII and how it's gotten everything under the sun (I'm sure some of these complaints stem from the fact that the other FF stories are being ignored to give us more FFVII) but for me?
I DON'T CARE. GIVE ME AS MUCH FFVII MATERIAL AS YOU CAN! GIVE IT SQUEENIX! GIVE IT TO ME HARD!
By which I mean, I'll take anything with more than a flicker of a smile. Seriously though, did anyone actually play FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus and expect much besides plot, character, and teh pretty? The gameplay absolutely SUCKS and to be honest, I didn't really care. I played to see Vincent's story - and to a certain extent, Yuffie's part in the present - and sure, I winced when the gun slid ridiculously over the screen, making it difficult to aim, much less shoot, but I'd never expected to have something that was a good game. Okay, okay, it wasn't that terrible, but it sure wasn't going to win any awards. ;)
DoC was, plainly put, HOT. Vincent was hot. Yuffie was hot. Tifa was hot. Cloud was hot. The antagonists were semi-hot... and it was unbearably cute to watch Yuffie and Vincent interact. UNBEARABLY. I had kittens whenever they were in the same screen together and whenever they weren't; it was that wonderful for me.
Crisis Core? Same thing. Kinda. I've always held a bit of a soft spot for Zack, especially over the fact that from what little we saw of him, he was a cheerful guy who never let anything get to him, not even five years as an experiment. He had so much goddamn hope it blazed. This was partly why I never really subscribed to Cloud and Aeris as a pairing. They were pretty and they were cute, but the person Aeris talked to and commented on was acting like Cloud; it was interesting that very few people actually comment on that particular fact. Aeris herself mentions their similarities and after seeing the trailer, I just wanted to cry. Because they looked so wonderful together and knowing that there's no happy ending for this particular pairing makes me go all hormonal.
Then Advent Children comes to mind and I'm wondering if they go their happy ending. In, well, the end.
... oh, I can't be serious. It's the WINTER HOLIDAYS!
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Date: 2006-12-07 11:30 pm (UTC)I have to admit, whenever I think of Gackt in DoC, I want to roll my eyes. In the end though, from a distant perspective, the song wasn't actually that bad. The singer sucks, but the song was okay. =)

Date: 2006-12-08 03:17 am (UTC)Removing characters after the fact is a lot different than adding one in, I think. Everyone that play FF7 knows that Gast was there and that he was important to the story. Whereas Grimoire can come out of no where and be all right because we didn't see everything that was happening, we -did- see Gast present in game.

Date: 2006-12-11 03:50 am (UTC)Sure there was. Less money to add in a new character and voice actor that many fans might not really remember!
