I just rewatched parts of S1 and, especially, The Parting of the Ways.
Oh, ow.
Every single time I watch Nine and Rose's short bit about Marbella, 1989, it just makes me all twisted up inside. And then Nine's goodbye message? No matter when, I start bawling.
Do that for me, Rose. Have a fantastic life.
THIS IS THE SORT OF STUFF THAT MAKES ME CRY INTO MY CEREAL.
And it makes me miss Nine and Christopher Eccleston.

Date: 2008-07-15 02:26 am (UTC)Oh my, yes! It's still my favorite season finale, for all the talk about it's cheat ending. It encapsulated everything I love about the Doctor/Rose relationship and better, Rose was just so awesome in it. It would have been so easy just to let the TARDIS die and leave it on the corner, but she fought to go back even though she knew it'd be going back to Daleks and almost certain death.
I miss BadWolf!Rose.

Date: 2008-07-15 02:35 am (UTC)Oh, it was the same for me too! I remember finishing S1 and being so mad at the end that Christopher Eccleston was going and that some new guy named David Tennant was coming in. I had the DVDs and I spend a couple of days wrinkling my nose at S2 and S3, thinking that there was no way he'd be as good. Which, in a way, he isn't. I love, love, love Ten and Tennant now, but Nine is always going to be the Doctor I love the most because he was my first Doctor. (that sound vaguely creepy, doesn't it?)
Eccleston and Piper had amazing chemistry; it worked so well for them and I actually felt it as a viewer. Tennant and Piper have excellent chemistry too, of course, but... ugh, I hate the fact that I don't like them equally, but yeah, I have to admit... I'm always going to prefer the Ecceleston/Piper combination to the Tennant/Piper one, regardless of how much I enjoy Ten/Rose!
